|The certification and accreditation of telemark instructors is under the regulation of the Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors (CANSI). The principal objective is to provide a standard of excellence in certified Nordic instruction by maintaining a uniform and current level of expertise in Nordic skiing, and by delivering nationally sanctioned pedagogy to the skiing public.
CANSI offers 4 Cross-country levels and 3 in telemark.
All candidates that successfully complete the level 1 course in cross-country or telemark become a member of CANSI, therefore benefit from all the privileges of the Association. The membership status is maintained by the annual payment of the adhesion fee. Active members receive all recent technical and teaching information for Nordic skiing through bulletins and training sessions. They also benefit from liability insurance while teaching.
- Pre level course: The duration of this course is 3 to 6 hours of practical exercises and demo. The content is the one of the level intended. In so, the candidate will be aware of the evaluation criteria’s and will be individually informed of his capacity to continue his formation or not.
- Level I: Initiation to the teaching of telemark for novice skiers, and oriented uniquely on the fundamental abilities. 2 days (16 hours) of formation divided in 13 hours on the snow and 3 hours of theory.
- Level II: Develops abilities to teach telemark to intermediate and advances skiers. The aim is to bring the skier to evolve his Nordic descent in various and demanding grounds. The approach must be specific and appropriate (4 days, 3 nigths, 45 hours)
